Form Search Tips:
- When a postmile is entered as a single point, it is expanded into a range. For example, 10 becomes [10-0.5, 10+0.5].
- Whether a postmile is entered as a point or a range, the search will include all information with postmiles that fall within that range, cross over it, or have at least one end within the range.
- If the starting postmile is greater than the ending postmile, the system will automatically reorder them during the search.
Map Search Tips:
- In Map Search view, use the boundary tool in the upper right corner to draw a boundary around the location of interest then select search in the bottom right corner. All records within the boundary will be populated.
- To search using “latitude/longitude” or an “address”, go to Map Search and select the “Locate” button in the upper right corner. A pop-up box will appear, allowing users to search by bridge number, bridge name, latitude/longitude, county, route, postmile, or address. After entering the search information, select “GO” and the map will automatically center on the input location.
- If searching by bridge name and the name is generic (e.g., Dry Creek), the tool will require users to select a specific bridge number before proceeding to the location.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I upload a geotechnical report for a project that spans multiple routes? Answer: Upload the report separately for each route the project covers. Be sure to include the specific post miles for each route. For example, if the project spans two routes, you will upload the report twice, once for each route.
- Can I upload multiple files for the same project location at the same time? Answer: Yes, this is encouraged. If you have several files for the same project location, you can upload them at the same time by selecting the “Add Another File” button at the bottom of the upload screen. This will create additional input fields for the document title, type, author, and date.
- How do I update or delete existing files within GeoDOG? Answer: Email gs.archive@dot.ca.gov and provide the reference number of the original upload along with a detailed description of what needs to be updated. The reference number is emailed to you automatically after you upload a document to GeoDOG. If the reference number is not available (i.e., you did not upload the file), provide the detailed Project Location (District, Route, County, Postmile) and the exact file that needs to be corrected, with a detailed description of the update.
- What should I enter for “Document Title” when uploading a document? Answer: Enter the exact title shown within the subject line of the document you are uploading. If the title does not match, your submission will be rejected. Additionally, clicking on the information icon “ ” provides some common example names.
