Postmile/Kilopost
Structures: Enter a single postmile.
Roadway Work: May be a single postmile or a range of postmiles, depending upon the type of project.
The postmile is the means by which California tracks highway mileage. The postmile starts at zero at the western or southern end of the route or at the western or southern boundary of the county through which the route is traveling. Mileage increases as you travel north or east and then restarts at zero at the next county line. Postmiles are used as a reference system to aid in the planning, design, construction, and operation of the state highway system.
A single postmile or a range of postmiles may be entered, depending upon the type of project.
A letter prefix for a postmile indicates the following:

The Bridge Numbering system is used for identification of bridges and other structures under the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation, or for structures for which we provide maintenance review or have record responsibilities. Bridge numbers are assigned by Structure Maintenance.
The bridge number consists of four parts: county prefix, county_suffix, bridge number and bridge suffix.
